If you are interested in stock photography one of the most challenging aspects is trying to find interesting subject matter to take photographs of.  I live in Toronto Ontario and sometimes it can be hard to find unusual subjects to photograph.  My advice would be to look out for events within your town.  Toronto has a number of events but two of the largest ones are the Toronto film Festival and a gay pride parade.  Obviously at the trial film Festival is a place where you can photograph famous celebrities.  These photographs will always have a ready market.

The Toronto Gay pride Festival is a great event to photograph as it is the second largest festival of its kind in North America. Needless to say I am not gay myself and I personally have no interest in this event on its own, but as a photo opportunity you are sure to capture a lot of colorful characters.  I have been to two gay pride parades now and I have captured a number of wonderful shots.  You can see a number of the shots for sale on shutterstock.com.  Of course with events like these you must keep in mind that the photographs could only be used for editorial purposes.  By that I mean use only by Free Press or the news.  As I would not be able to get a model release for every person in the crowd.  Most stock photography websites do not allow you to post editorial pictures, but fortunately shutterstock does.
